Eligibility and Other Important Information:

  • You must be a FULL-TIME CAHNR/RHSA student during the 2024-2025 academic year to be eligible for an award.
  • You must complete and submit the entire application to be considered.
  • This application is for awards to be made during the 2024-2025 academic year.
  • You will be notified by email if you are selected to receive a scholarship (beginning in June and lasting throughout the remainder of the summer or early fall).

    Available CAHNR/RHSA Scholarships

    Abell and Potter Family Endowed Scholarship

    One or more awards to undergraduate students enrolled in the Pre-Allied Health Program or an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in an entry level degree in Allied Health Sciences. Based on demonstrated academic achievement, and financial need. The recipient must be a resident of Tolland or Windham County.

     

    Agriculture Dean’s Scholarship (CAHNR Dean’s)

    One or more awards to CAHNR undergraduate students based on academic achievement and student activities.

     

    Agriculture Education Scholarship/Professional Development Award

    One or more awards for students enrolled in UConn’s Agriculture Education Program.  Awards are primarily intended to provide financial assistance for student participation in educational and/or professional development workshops/conferences that supplement courses and experiences in the structured teacher preparation program (e.g., training in small engine repair, welding, and other agricultural equipment; National Ag Education and National FFA workshops; and other educational and agricultural workshops or conferences.)  As a secondary purpose, funds may be used for scholarships to Ag Ed students.  Preference will be given to current students or recent graduates of UConn’s College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources.

     

    Andrew T. Aitken Physical Therapy Scholarship

    Scholarships to students in the Physical Therapy Program.

     

    Al and Barbara Scholarship

    One or more awards to full-time undergraduate students in CAHNR. Students must be in the second semester of their junior year (Spring Award), be in good academic standing, demonstrate financial need, and working on completing a plan of study in production agriculture and/or agri-business.

     

    Willard H. Allen Scholarship

    One or more awards to CAHNR or RHSA students based on scholarship, leadership, integrity, and extracurricular activities. Scholarships made possible by the bequest of Willard H. Allen (’16).

     

    Kaye and Marie Andrus Scholarship

    One or more scholarships are awarded to continuing undergraduate students in CAHNR majoring in Animal Science. Preference to students who demonstrate financial need.

     

    Animal Science Faculty/Staff Undergraduate Scholarship

    To be used for undergraduate scholarships for students in the department of Animal Science.

     

    The Anthony Yurgaitis & George Malkemus Arethusa Farm Scholarship

    To provide one or more scholarships for incoming and continuing undergraduate or graduate students enrolled full-time in CAHNR who demonstrate an interest in dairy science, dairy foods processing, or dairy production and who demonstrate financial need.

     

    The Armstrong Family Scholarship

    One or more awards to support junior or senior undergraduate students fulfilling the pre-veterinary studies program curriculum & maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale while enrolled in the College of Agriculture, Health & Natural Resources.

     

    Ashmore Scholarship for the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources

    To provide financial support for students enrolled full-time in the Physical Therapy Program in the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources. Must demonstrate academic achievement and financial need.

     

    Beulah Shanley Baldwin Scholarship

    One or more awards to undergraduate students enrolled in CAHNR or RHSA. Recipients must have demonstrated community service through volunteerism.

     

    Elliot J. Barnard ’54 Physical Therapy Scholarship

    One or more awards to CAHNR students in the Physical Therapy Program and be engaged in the clinical portion of his or her training. Financial need is also a consideration.

     

    Yolande M. Bigelow Horticulture Scholarship

    One or more awards to graduate students enrolled in CAHNR. Priority will be given to students who demonstrate financial need, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0, and demonstrate an interest in a career in horticulture.

     

    Mark Bishop and Lynette Bishop Bobb Scholarship

    One or more awards to outstanding incoming or continuing full-time undergraduate students enrolled in CAHNR. Students must be majoring in animal science, plant science, or nutritional sciences. Based on demonstrated academic achievement.

     

    Arthur C. & Lynette B. Bobb Scholarship

    One or more scholarships to continuing undergraduate students enrolled in CAHNR.  Students must demonstrate financial need and/or be meritorious.  Students must be in Plant Science with preference to students majoring in horticulture.

     

    The Bishop-Carder Scholarship

    One or more awards to graduate students enrolled in CAHNR who are engaged in the study of the plant sciences, such as horticulture, pomology, forestry, agronomy, and botany, and such allied subjects as entomology, landscaping, and the economics of said sciences. Priority consideration will be given to students who are most worthy of such assistance by reason of ability, character, professional promise and need.

     

    Arthur C. & Lynette B. Bobb Scholarship

    One or more awards to continuing undergraduate students enrolled in CAHNR. Students must demonstrate financial need and/or be meritorious. Preference to students majoring in plant science or horticulture.

     

    Bobb-Koths Plant Science Scholarship

    One or more awards to incoming freshman who are academically outstanding and enrolled full-time in CAHNR’s Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture. Preference will be given to horticulture majors. Recipients must be students from a Connecticut high school.

     

    John P.H. Brand Travel Scholarship

    One or more awards to CAHNR or RHSA students. Based on leadership activities in student organizations and academic achievement. Scholarship funds are intended to assist a student leader in attending a conference, other program to present papers or attend a competitive or invitational event.

     

    Brundage Family College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources Scholarship

    One or more awards to academically outstanding incoming CAHNR or RHSA students enrolled full-time. Based on demonstrated academic achievement and demonstrated financial need. Priority consideration will be given to students who have been involved with 4-H youth development programs.

     

    Dorothy M. Burns Scholarship

    One or more awards to need based students pursuing a major in Nutritional Sciences in the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources.

     

    Clifford R. Burr Memorial Scholarship

    One or more awards to undergraduate or graduate students majoring in agronomy (in the broad sense or the word) or in the field of ornamental horticulture.

     

    Samantha Calzone Scholarship

    A scholarship in memory of Samantha Calzone to support continuing undergraduate students majoring in Animal Science who are members of the equestrian team.

     

    George F. Cloutier Scholarship

    One or more awards to incoming or continuing CAHNR undergraduate students enrolled full-time majoring in Natural Resources. Students must demonstrate financial need, academic achievement with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher, demonstrate an interest in forestry and wildlife, and must be pursuing a degree concentration in forest resources.

     

    Connecticut Grounds Keepers Association Scholarship

    One or more awards to CAHNR and/or RHSA students majoring in Horticulture. Based on academic achievement, potential for future academic and professional accomplishments, and experience in the grounds keeping industry. Preference to a Connecticut resident.

     

    Connecticut Horticultural Society Scholarship

    The Connecticut Horticultural Society offers one or more awards to a continuing CAHNR or RHSA student majoring in Horticulture. These awards were established to honor Ludwig Hoffman, Edwin “Pat” Carpenter, and David J.A. Smith for their contributions to the field of Horticulture. Students receiving these awards will demonstrate scholastic excellence, leadership, and volunteerism within their discipline and will show strong professional promise in their field. First consideration will be given to Connecticut residents.

     

    Connecticut Institute of Water Resources Scholarship

    To provide scholarships to undergraduate students enrolled in CAHNR with financial need who have demonstrated an interest in or focus in Water Resources.

     

    Connecticut Trustees of the Eastern States Exposition Scholarship

    One or more scholarships to CAHNR students provided by the Connecticut Trustees of the Eastern States Exposition. The undergraduate scholarship honors Lee Marsh. Based on financial need and an indication that the recipients will make a contribution to agriculture, and to the welfare of the citizens of Connecticut. Preference given to Connecticut residents.

     

    Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association – Niel W. Pieper, DVM Scholarship

    One award annually to a CAHNR upper-division pre-veterinary student who is a Connecticut resident preparing for a career in veterinary medicine. Based on past academic achievement and leadership in extra-curricular and/or civic activities. Although financial need is considered it need not be the determining factor.

     

    Mary M. and Kathryn E. Connelly Sisters Scholarship

    One or more awards to financially assist undergraduate students enrolled in the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources.

     

    Corbo Physical Therapy Scholarship

    To provide financial support for undergraduate or graduate CAHNR students enrolled full-time in the Physical Therapy Program.


    Jim Cornish Memorial Scholarship

    One or more awards to students in the Department of Allied Health Sciences. To provide financial support to an entering senior or graduate student in the Department of Allied Health Sciences.

     

    The W.A. Cowan Undergraduate Award in Animal Science

    One annual award is given to an incoming student in CAHNR or RHSA majoring in animal science. If no incoming student meets eligibility, then the award may be given to a current student. Award is based on past performance and demonstrated livestock interest, experience, achievement, and junior leadership with one or more of the following: beef or dairy cattle, horses, sheep, goats, swine, poultry, or in 4-H and/or FFA livestock activities, and also possibly including junior breeder or producer organizations. Financial need should not be considered. Admission to UConn is the sole academic consideration.

     

    Janina M. Czajkowski Scholarship in Community Nutrition

    One or more awards to academically outstanding students enrolled full-time in CAHNR majoring in nutritional sciences. Based on financial need, and an interest in pursuing a career providing nutritional services to the community.

     

    Willard H. Daniels and Salvatore A. Orsini Scholarship

    One or more awards to upper-division undergraduate students in CAHNR with an interest in veterinary medicine. Based on financial need, past academic achievement, and demonstration of potential for future academic and professional accomplishments. Willard Daniels was an Extension Veterinarian and Professor of Pathobiology. Dr. Orsini is a retired M.D., whose two sons became veterinarians and joined the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania.

     

    C. Dawson Scholarship

    One or more awards to CAHNR or RHSA students interested in greenhouse production. Provided by Paul L. Hammer, Jr., a CAHNR and RHSA alumnus, in memory of Burton C. Dawson, a staff member of the Department of Plant Science and a local greenhouse businessman.

     

    DelFavero Agricultural Economics Scholarship

    One or more awards to students in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics based on demonstrated academic achievement at the outstanding level, and financial need. Preference given to students involved in extracurricular activities. Established in honor of Professors Johnson, Seaver, and Fellows.

     

    The Desmarais-Cherhoniak Families Scholarship

    One or more awards to incoming or continuing CAHNR students enrolled full-time who demonstrate academic achievement and financial need. Ppriority consideration will be given to students who have participated in community service and/or volunteer programs that relate to fields of study within the College.

     

    The Thomas A. DiBenedetto Memorial Scholarship

    One or more awards to CAHNR students based on academic achievement and the potential for future professional and academic accomplishments. Thomas DiBenedetto was a U.S. Marine serving in Beirut, Lebanon at the time of his death in October 1983. His parents established the scholarship because of his appreciation of animals and the land.

     

    Dietetics Program Diversity Scholarship

    One or more awards are given to students enrolled full-time in the Department of Allied Health Sciences. Students must demonstrate financial need and be currently enrolled or following a course of study in preparation for admission to the Coordinated Undergraduate Dietetics Program. Students enrolled in the Dietetics Internship are also eligible. Priority consideration will be given to candidates of an ethnic or racial background which is underrepresented at the University.

     

    Hamilton D. Eaton Award for Research Excellence in Nutritional Sciences

    One or more awards to academically outstanding graduate or undergraduate students enrolled full-time in the Department of Nutritional Sciences. Based on demonstrated excellence in nutritional sciences research. Priority to undergrads in the Honors Program or graduate students.

     

    Horace C. Eriksson Forestry Scholarship

    One or more awards to incoming or continuing full-time CAHNR students majoring in Natural Resources studying forestry. Preference shall be given based on financial need.

     

    Jack and Sandra Evans Physical Therapy Scholarship

    One or more awards to entry level students enrolled in a Physical Therapy Program or students preparing to enroll in such a Program. Students must be enrolled full-time, be academically outstanding, and   demonstrate financial need.

     

    The Dorothy Wilhelm Faber Scholarship

    One or more awards to undergraduate students enrolled full-time majoring in Horticulture. Must be an incoming or continuing student and must demonstrate academic achievement, have financial need, and be a member of the UConn Horticulture Club or a similar such organization. The recipient must also demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in floriculture.

     

    Fairfield County Horticultural Society Memorial Scholarship

    One or more awards to academically outstanding undergraduate students enrolled full-time in CAHNR or RHSA. Students must demonstrate financial need and have an interest in plant science. Priority will be given to students from Fairfield County, Connecticut.

     

    Harry Farnham Memorial Award

    One or more awards to CAHNR students majoring in Natural Resources concentrating in forestry or wildlife and game management. Preference given to students who have demonstrated proficiency in conservation.

     

    Alan S. Farwell Scholarship

    One or more awards to CAHNR students. Based on past academic achievement, demonstration of potential for future academic and professional accomplishments, demonstrated interest and participation in athletic or fitness activities, and evidence of personal contribution to college expenses through employment during school year and/or vacations. Financial need will be considered but will not be the only determinant factor. Endowed by Alan S. Farwell (’28).

     

    Cameron and Carol Faustman Food Science Scholarship

    One or more awards to juniors or seniors enrolled in CAHNR. Students must demonstrate financial need and be meritorious (cumulative GPA of 2.8 or greater on 4.0 scale). Students must also demonstrate a strong work ethic and be majoring in Animal Science with a focus in Food Science.

     

    Irving and Justine Fellows Scholarship

    One or more awards to CAHNR students in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics for agricultural profitability and preservation.

     

    Polly Fitz Creative Leadership Award

    One or more awards to undergraduate students enrolled in the Dietetics Program, or Dietetics Intern Program, and members of an underrepresented population.

     

    Marshall Bixby Geer Memorial Scholarship

    One or more awards to incoming or continuing CAHNR students enrolled full-time in the Department of Pathobiology and Veterinary Science. Students must demonstrate and intent to pursue a veterinary career. Based on academic achievement.

     

    Ann Collins Gill Fund

    To provide educational scholarships to upper division, undergraduate students majoring in plant science.

     

    First Company Governor’s Foot Guard Scholarship

    One or more awards to CAHNR students in pre-veterinary medicine. Based on academic achievement, citizenship, and financial need. Provided by the First Company Governor’s Foot Guard in Hartford, CT.

     

    Francis E. and Holly S. Griffin Memorial Scholarship

    One or more awards to CAHNR students enrolled full-time in the Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture. Recipients must be academically outstanding upper-division undergraduate students and demonstrate financial need.

     

    Henry G. Haalck Memorial Award

    One or more awards to an upper-division CAHNR student majoring in Natural Resources. Based on demonstrated interest in forestry, involvement in extracurricular activities, and professional promise. Established in memory of Henry Haalck, Professor of Natural Resources.

     

    Nathan Hale Award in Animal Science

    One or more awards to undergraduate students enrolled in CAHNR or RHSA. Students must be an incoming undergraduate student enrolled full-time in Animal Science. Students must demonstrate an interest, accomplishment, and leadership related to any of the following livestock categories: beef or dairy cattle, horses, sheep, goats, swine, or poultry, by, without limitation, past participation in 4-H, Future Farmers of America, livestock activities, junior breeder and producer organizations, and similar such programs. If an incoming student cannot be identified, a continuing student who meets the criteria may be considered.

     

    Henry & Ebba Hansen Memorial Scholarship

    One or more awards to CAHNR students who demonstrate strong leadership skills and an interest in public service and/or community organizations. Established in memory of Henry M. Hansen, Associate Director, Cooperative Extension System, and his wife Ebba who was also very active in the community.

     

    Theresa Victoria Plouffe Hayward Scholarship in Allied Health Sciences

    One or more awards are given to students enrolled full-time in the Department of Allied Health Sciences. Students must demonstrate financial need, be from an underrepresented population, and show an interest in diabetes research.

     

    The Harold G. Helmboldt & Melba E. Helmboldt Award

    One or more awards to assist students enrolled in the Ratcliffe Hicks School of Agriculture.

     

    Ratcliffe Hicks Award of Excellence

    An award to the graduating RHSA senior with the highest total grade point average.

     

    Ratcliffe Hicks Heritage Scholarship

    One or more awards to incoming RHSA students majoring in animal science, plant science, or urban forestry and arboriculture. Based on past academic performance.

     

    Emanuel “Mike” Hirth Family Endowed Scholarship

    One or more awards to academically outstanding undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in CAHNR. Students must demonstrate financial need and an interest to participate in UConn sponsored travel to a conference, competition, or international study.

     

    William Duran Holman Prize Fund Award

    An award to the CAHNR junior and/or senior in animal science with the highest total grade point average.

     

    Horticulture Club Scholarship

    One or more awards to CAHNR or RHSA students in the Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture. Based on active membership in the Horticulture Club, strong academic record, and good citizenship.

     

    The Oliver J. Hubbard Memorial Poultry Science Scholarship

    One scholarship to a student majoring in Poultry Science (preferred) or Animal Science.  Awarded to students based on academic achievement with preference to financial need and an interest in poultry production.

     

    Jarvis Products Corporation Scholarship

    One or more awards to CAHNR or RHSA students majoring in animal science with a strong interest in meat science. Based on scholarship, participation in related extracurricular activities, work experience, and an intention to seek a career in the meat industry.

     

    The Patricia J. Jepson Scholarship

    One or more scholarships to full-time RHSA or CAHNR undergraduate students. Priority consideration to students meeting one or more of the following criteria: demonstrated interest in Agricultural Education as a career; first generation college student; underrepresented population; experienced personal or family hardship; participation in career related activities or organizations; past 4-H or FFA member; limited support from other scholarships.

     

    Robert E. Johnson Endowed Scholarship

    One or more awards to full-time CAHNR students majoring in animal science. Students must demonstrate and interest in, and dedication to the dairy industry through leadership and participation in 4-H, FFA, dairy cattle judging, dairy breed, and/or dairy organization activities. Academic achievement is also considered. Established in memory of Robert E. Johnson, Professor of Dairy Science.

     

    Stewart Johnson Scholarship

    One or more awards to meritorious graduate students in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics with a bachelor’s degree from a United States Land Grant University.

     

    Martha Keagle DGS Clinical Experience Award

    One or more scholarships to students majoring in the Diagnostic Genetic Sciences who qualify for participation in university approved off-campus clinical education related to students’ academic program.  Criteria includes good academic standing and financial need.

     

    Frances E. Osborne Kellogg Fund Scholarship

    One or more awards to CAHNR or RHSA students majoring in animal science. Based on academic performance.

     

    Kinsman Family International Agriculture Scholarship

    One or more awards to CAHNR undergraduate or graduate students for international study or internship. Preference given to animal science students.

     

    Merle S. and Irene Klinck Memorial Scholarship

    One or more awards to CAHNR undergraduate or graduate students in the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment. Students must demonstrate financial need and be pursuing a degree in the field of Natural Resources.

     

    Nathan Koenig AG/EC Student Fund

    To provide financial support or assistance for students in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics.  Priority consideration will go to graduate or undergraduate students who major in Agricultural Economics, giving preference to those with course work in general or practical Agriculture.  Among the criteria to be considered by the Scholarship Committee in selection of scholarship recipients are academic standing and financial need.

     

    Jay Koths Travel Award Fund

    One or more awards to incoming or continuing graduate students enrolled full-time in the CAHNR. Students must demonstrate academic achievement, financial need, and be enrolled in an advanced degree program in the Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture. To qualify for assistance students must be participating in a university approved domestic or international student education travel program.

     

    Marvin W. Kottke Scholarship

    One or more awards to academically outstanding full-time graduate students in CAHNR. Students must be a US citizen, and demonstrate academic achievement and an interest in agricultural and resource economics.

     

    Mary Kumpf Scholarship 

    One or more scholarships to students continuing students majoring in Natural Resources and the Environment with a focus on soil conservation, propagation of wildlife and plants.

     

    Leslie F. Laughlin Scholarship

    One or more awards to students in the Department of Kinesiology.

     

    Joseph M. Lent Plant Science Scholarship

    One or more awards are given to students in CAHNR or RHSA in the Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture. Based on past academic achievement and demonstration of potential for future academic and professional accomplishments. Students should be active members in the Horticulture Club and good citizens of their department and the University. Financial need may be considered but should not be the determinant factor in selecting recipients. Established in memory of Joseph M. Lent, Professor of Horticulture.

     

    John Livieri Memorial Scholarship

    One or more awards to students in the Physical Therapy Program.

     

    Martha A. Ludemann Memorial Scholarship

    One or more scholarships for Allied Health Sciences students in the Dietetics program.

     

    Ann Lurate Lupo Scholarship in Clinical Dietetics

    An award annually to a student in the Clinical Dietetics Program in the Department of Allied Health Sciences. The award is based on past academic achievement and demonstration of potential for future academic and professional accomplishments.

     

    Christopher P. Marsocci Memorial Scholarship

    One or more awards to undergraduate students in CAHNR demonstrating financial need and recognized for notable leadership and service. Applicants must display a commitment to the college and must participate in community services. Preference will be given to active members of Alpha Zeta. Established by the family of Christopher Marsocci (’78) whose life ended tragically while in veterinary medical school. Christopher was Chancellor of Alpha Zeta.

     

    The Claire Henighan Mather Fellowship Fund

    The Fund shall be used exclusively to support the University by providing scholarship support ("Fellowship(s)") for students enrolled in the University's College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources.

     

    Donald N. Maynard Scholarship

    One or more awards to academically outstanding undergraduate students enrolled full-time in CAHNR. Students must demonstrate financial need and an interest in Plant Science. Priority will be given to a junior or upper-division student with an interest in horticulture and/or agronomy.

     

    McDowell Wildlife Award Fund

    To award a scholarship to a graduating senior accepted as a graduate student in the wildlife program.

     

    Dorothy McLaughlin Miss MAC Endowed Scholarship in Physical Therapy

    One or more awards to support CAHNR students enrolled in the Physical Therapy Program.

     

    Ann McLendon Memorial Scholarship

    One or more awards to undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in the Department of Allied Health Sciences. Students must be pursuing a degree in dietetics or medical laboratory sciences, demonstrate financial need, leadership skills and perseverance, involvement in extracurricular activities, and show interest in health promotion and health education. Priority will be given to students who are members of a federally recognized underrepresented group.

     

    Albert Wadsworth Meserve and the Helen Clark Meserve Memorial Trust Fund

    One or more awards to CAHNR students interested in horticulture, arboriculture, forestry, or other fields connected with ecology, conservation, and tree care.

     

    Garry A. and Eunice M. Miles Award

    An award will be presented each fall to an upper-division student in CAHNR based on high scholarship, and participation in extracurricular activities. Preference given to students presenting evidence of 4-H Club, gardening, or poultry experience with an intention to pursue a career in Cooperative Extension.

     

    Dr. Lloyd and Cora Mitterling Scholarship

    One or more awards to students in RHSA with an interest in pomology. Students must be majoring in Plant Science.

     

    Montana Physical Therapy Scholarship

    One or more awards to support undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in the Physical Therapy Program. Students must demonstrate academic achievement and a potential for future academic and professional accomplishments. Priority consideration will be given to candidates with financial need.

     

    Maryann Morris Allied Health Sciences Scholarship

    One scholarship to a continuing undergraduate student majoring in Allied Health Sciences. Student must demonstrate financial need and/or be meritorious.

     

    Jane T. Muhlethaler Award in Plant Science

    One or more awards are given to students in CAHNR or RHSA in the Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture. Preference will be given to non-traditional students, meaning, adults that have returned to school after a leave of any duration, and any student that is from an under-represented population.

     

    Horace F. and Gladys K. Murphey Plant Science Scholarship

    The Pamela Roberts PT Pediatric Education Fund

    To provide educational opportunities to PT faculty and students focusing on pediatrics. Funds may be used for travel, registration fees and scholarships.

    To provide scholarship support for CAHNR seniors who are enrolled full-time in Natural Resources. To be eligible students must demonstrate academic achievement and have 90 or more credits. Priority consideration will be given to students who demonstrate the highest academic achievement.

    One or more awards to an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled full-time in the CAHNR.  Students must demonstrate an interest in a career in allied health sciences, with a concentration in occupational and environmental health and safety or public health and health promotion in environmental or public health; or a career in environmental science, with a concentration in environmental health. Priority consideration will be given to students majoring and/or minoring in fields of study related to environmental or public health.

    Fran Tappan Student Aid Fund

    To provide financial assistance to students enrolled in the Physical Therapy Program. Student needs will not be confined to any specific area; they may be used for tuition, fees, personal emergencies, attendance at special meetings, national conferences, etc. Financial assistance is not necessarily restricted to Junior, Senior and underprivileged students. Students’ grades will not be a criterion of awarding.

    Julia Wasserman Memorial Scholarship for Pre-Vet Students

    One Scholarship of $25,000 per year to a CAHNR undergraduate student going into their junior or senior year.  To be eligible students must be following a pre-vet track and majoring in either Animal Science or Pathobiology.  Preference will be given to residents from the State of Connecticut planning to attend veterinary school in or out of state with an intention of coming back to the State of Connecticut to practice.  For renewal of scholarship for the spring semester, students must be full-time (carrying 12 or more credits) and maintain a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.4 or above.  This scholarship will be split between the fall and spring semesters to ensure the student has met eligibility for continuation scholarship.

     

    Weidemann Endowment Fund for CAHNR

    One or more awards for the College of Agriculture, Health & Natural Resources to pay emergency expenses of students following unforeseen misfortunes, & to enhance student experiential learning opportunities relevant to major or field of study including, without limitation, travel to conferences, seminars, and symposia.

     

    The Weingart Family Scholarship in Animal Sciences

    One or more awards to continuing undergraduate students enrolled full-time in CAHNR. Students must demonstrate an interest in Dairy Science, Dairy Production, Dairy Management, or a related field; demonstrate academic achievement with a minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent on any other scale; and demonstrate financial need. Priority consideration will be given to students who demonstrate interest, accomplishment, or leadership in Animal Science related activities including, without limitation, membership in Dairy Club, Dairy Judging Team, Block and Bridle Club, past participation in 4-H, Future Farmers of America livestock activities, junior breeders and producers organizations or similar such youth programs.

     

    Albert E. Wilkinson Scholarship

    One or more awards to an incoming or second-year undergraduate student in CAHNR interested in plant science and planning to contribute to educational programs and community service. Based on academic achievement, financial need, and potential for future academic and professional accomplishments through vocational agriculture, 4-H or related organizations, or through working in a business related to plant science.

     

    Xianzhong Jerry Yang Research Excellence Award

    To encourage research excellence by providing fellowship support for graduate students enrolled full-time in CAHNR, priority to continuing graduate students majoring in Animal Science or Pathobiology who demonstrate academic achievement.

    Wilfred B. Young Leadership and Service Award

    One or more awards to CAHNR or RHSA seniors showing professional interest in agriculture, food, or natural resources. Based on outstanding ability and achievement in leadership and service. Established in memory of Wilfred B. Young, Dean of the College from 1945-1966.
